Tax Debts can have severe consequences as HM Revenue and Customs can be quite daunting to deal with. If you have problems with your PAYE, a time to pay agreement could be obtained to ensure your Business can continue to trade and have full peace of mind that an arrangement is in place. Typically our Time to Pay arrangements could be between 3 to 12 months depending on individual circumstances

What is Pay As You Earn?

PAYE put simply is the money that is taken away from your wages for tax. The PAYE system is how you pay both your income tax and NI. Every time you’re paid, your boss takes your tax and NI from your wages and sends it on to HMRC.

What is a PAYE reference?

The PAYE reference will be in the format xxx / xxxx. The first three digits before the forward slash tell HMRC which tax office deals with your PAYE tax and National Insurance. The numbers after the forward slash tell HMRC about your employer or pension provider.

How do I set up a PAYE scheme?

You simply call the HMRC Employers Helpline on 0300 200 3200 to obtain a new employer starter pack. The starter pack will include your reference number. Alternatively, you can register online on the HMRC website.

Where can I go for more advice about PAYE?

A good accountant will be able to advise you, for a fee they’ll also be able to manage your PAYE scheme for you. The HMRC website also contains a great amount of information about PAYE and NI. HMRC have also released a useful guide to PAYE and National Insurance contributions. Alternatively you can contact Tax Debts if you have problems with your PAYE or fill out our contact form
